Admissions

Requirements and Procedures
All applicants to Lincoln Technical Institute must possess a strong motivation to become Qualified Technicians in their chosen career field and be willing to dedicate themselves to their field of study.

An applicant must have at a minimum either a high school diploma or the equivalent (GED), or pass an Ability to Benefit test given by an independent agent.

Applicants and their families will meet with an admissions representative in a personal interview. They will be introduced to the Institute's programs and be given a tour of the school. A pre-entrance test will also be administered.

To apply for admission, the applicant fills out the school's application form and enrollment agreement. These are submitted together with a registration fee. A place is reserved for the applicant at this time; however, the agreement is not binding until it has been signed by a school official.

The student's application and test results are then reviewed by the school. After the Institute makes its decision whether to accept or reject the application, the applicant is notified by letter.

When an applicant has had previous training or experience in any of the fields, the Director will evaluate the background of the student. A test will be administered and, if appropriate, the Director will waive that portion of the program for which the applicant has had training or experience.

Definition of a Credit Hour
Lincoln Technical Institute measures course work in quarter-credit hours. Every 10 hours of classroom contact is equal to 1 quarter-credit hour; every 20 hours of supervised laboratory /shop instruction is equal to 1 quarter-credit hour; and every 30 hours of externship/internship, or work related experience, is equal to 1 quarter-credit hour.

Transfer of Credits
Decisions concerning the acceptance of credits by any institution other than the granting institution are made at the sole discretion of the receiving institution. No representation is made whatsoever concerning the transferability of any credits to any institution.

Students considering continuing their education at, or transferring to other institutions, must not assume that credits earned at this school will be accepted by the receiving institution. An institution's accreditation does not guarantee that credits earned at that institution would be accepted for transfer by any other institution.

Students must contact the Registrar of the receiving institution to determine what credits, if any, that the institution will accept.

Non-discrimination Policy Statement
Lincoln Technical Institute, both as an employer and as an educational system, is committed to the principles of nondiscrimination and equal opportunity for all people. These commitments are actively pursued in all aspects of both campus and community relationships.

Lincoln Technical Institute maintains and promotes a policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of race, religion, color, sex, age, handicap, marital status, or national origin. This policy incorporates by reference the requirements of Federal Executive Orders 11246 and 11375 as amended; Title IX of the educational act of 1972; Section 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; Section 402, Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974; and pertinent Laws, Regulations and Executive Directives of the State of Connecticut.
